Cruise Line Switches to Adults Only Policy, Passengers Must Be 18+ on New Bookings

Looking to take a cruise without any kids on board? One cruise line has updated their age policy and passengers must be at least 18 years old now to sail.

Travel Weekly reported that Viking River Cruises will no longer allow passengers under the age of 18 on new bookings. This change was made on August 1, 2018.  Viking now lists the following in the terms and conditions on their website:

“Due to the nature of our cruise and travel itineraries, the Carrier does not maintain facilities or services on our Ships for individuals under the age of 18 years. For all cruise/ cruise tours booked after August 1, 2018 (regardless of departure year), you must be 18 years old on or before the day you are scheduled to embark on the cruise tour.

Cruises through the 2019 may still have passengers under 18 as the cruises were booked prior to August 1, 2018.”

Previously, the age limit for Viking’s river ships was 12.

This new age policy now aligns with Viking’s ocean cruise ships where passengers must be at least 18 years old to sail.
