Norwegian Cruise Line is offering passengers on Norwegian Star a full refund after the ship developed propulsion problems resulting in an altered itinerary Cruise Critic is reporting.
In addition to the full refund, passengers on the December 11 sailing will also receive a 50% off future cruise certificate. The ship returned to Singapore shortly after leaving port so repairs could be made to the ship’s azipods.
Due to the extra time in Singapore, the ship will now have three extra sea days bypassing stops in Thailand. Norwegian has also modified the itinerary for the December 22 sailing from Hong Kong that swaps port days for sea days in Thailand and also bypasses a stop in Taiwan. Complete itinerary changes can be found here.
Passengers who are on the December 22 sailing can cancel for a full refund and receive a 25% off future cruise certificate. Those who do choose to sail will receive a 50% refund on their cruise fare as well as a 50% off future cruise certificate.

Currently on NCL Star
A total of 5 ports have been cancelled now!! They are not offering any refunds, guests are upset. DO NOT BOOK with this cruise ship.
We’re due to sail on 16 Jan but are advised now that 2 ports are cancelled. Nothing more from NCL apart from the offer of €200 per stateroom compensation. No refund options being give or any other info/advice or news on the ship. Really not good enough.
