Royal Caribbean Cancels More Cruises Out of China

Royal Caribbean has now canceled eight cruises on their newest cruise ship, Spectrum of the Seas.

The cruise line originally canceled a handful out of sailings out of China due to the coronavirus outbreak.  The canceled sailings now extend through early March.

Also, any guests who have visited China or Hong Kong over the past 15 days would not be allowed to board any Royal Caribbean cruise ships.

In an effort to keep coronavirus from spreading onto cruise ships,  all cruise lines that are members of CLIA have agreed to deny boarding to anyone who has visited mainland china in the past few weeks.

During Royal Caribbean’s earnings call earlier today, CEO Richard Fain stated that they may have to cancel more bookings depending on current status of the coronavirus outbreak.

Spectrum of the Seas is Royal Caribbean’s newest cruise ship and the cruise line’s first Quantum Ultra class vessel.  The ship is currently homeported in Shanghai, China.
