Carnival Cruise Line’s Newest Cruise Ship Strikes Pier in New York City

Carnival Cruise Line’s newest cruise ship, Carnival Horizon, hit a pier earlier this morning when the ship was docking at a pier in New York City.

The cruise ship was returning from an eight day cruise to the Eastern Caribbean when the ship hit the pier causing minor damage.

There was no one injured and Carnival Cruise Line said that the ship will sail this afternoon. The ship is scheduled for another eight night cruise to the Caribbean from New York.

Damage to the pier included two metal support beams and part of the parking lot on the upper deck of the pier.

Carnival Horizon received just minimal damage on the bow of the ship that won’t affect the safety or performance of the vessel.

Carnival Horizon was returning from an eight day cruise to the Eastern Caribbean with port stops in Grand Turk, San Juan, and Amber Cove.
