Carnival Cruise Line will begin delivering supplies on both an immediate and sustained, long term basis to areas in the Caribbean that were hit by Hurricane Irma.
The cruise line plans on using their ship, Carnival Fascination, to deliver supplies to St. Kitts later this week. Carnival Fascination is currently homeported in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Carnival also stated that a delivery of supplies will arrive soon in Grand Turk. The deliveries will be worked into ship’s cruise itineraries as part of their ongoing operations.
Arnold Donald, CEO of Carnival Corporation, has sent a letter to the leaders of multiple Caribbean islands to ask them to advise what kind of support from Carnival Corporation would be most valuable.
Carnival’s corporate foundation is also beginning the work of evaluating the best channels for potential monetary support in the Caribbean as well as Florida (once the storm passes through the state).
While the cruise line had to cancel several cruises due to the storm, the ships are unable to assist in the Caribbean at the moment without having to sail through the hurricane due to their present location.
The United States Virgin Islands and British Virgin Islands were not mentioned specifically. Are there current plans to send aid to thise islands as well? Please let me know so I can share to my people.
Thank you for what you guys are doing.
