The Norwegian Epic, Pearl, and Star will be featured in a new reality show that debuts on Tuesday night (April 10) at 10:00 p.m. on Lifetime. This one hour show entitled, Love for Sail, will feature 4 women who try to find the right match from a group of single men.
This modern day Love Boat appears to be a cross between The Bachelorette and a cruise vacation.
The show was filmed last fall and will feature popular cruise port destinations such as Grand Cayman, the Bahamas, St Maarten, and Cabo San Lucas in Mexico. The show will also likely include scenes filmed in suites, lounges, restaurants, and other parts of the ships that are rarely seen by most passengers.
NCL believes that this reality show will showcase the cruise line in a positive light. They are also hoping to introduce new and seasoned cruisers to the many aspects of NCL that set it apart of the other cruise lines.
NCL spokeswoman AnnieMarie Matthews said, “Our CEO Kevin Sheehan has really pushed the organization to be smart in this regard as this is subtle advertising that costs less than paid advertising and helps us make up for our size”.
Reality TV is not new to NCL. In early 2011, Kevin Sheehan went undercover on the CBS hit show Undercover Boss. He toured the Norwegian Epic and Pride of America to find ways to make the cruise line better for the passengers and crew members. NCL has also been featured on the CNBC program Cruise Inc: Big Money on the High Seas. This 45 minute episode is available for viewing on Netflix.
Lifetime has ordered 8 episodes of Love for Sail and they will be shown weekly until the end of May. Love for Sail is being produced by Studio Lambert, the same producer who approached NCL about being featured on Undercover Boss.
Cruise Fever will have a detailed review of this new reality show once we have a chance to watch a few episodes.
