Earlier this week, Carnival Cruise Line gave a fleet update that included additional information about their second Excel class cruise ship.
This currently unnamed cruise ship will be a sister ship to Mardi Gras and will be 180,000 gross tons in size, the largest class of ships from Carnival Cruise Line. The vessel will enter service in November 2022 and is being built at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland.
This second Excel class cruise ship will have many of the same features as Mardi Gras. This includes BOLT, a roller coaster that will circle around the top deck of the ship. Other features will be announced at a later date.
The ship will sail from the Cruise Capital of the World, PortMiami. While exact itineraries and lengths have not yet been announced, the vessel will offer cruises to the Caribbean.
Cruises on the ship will begin opening for bookings this fall.
Last September, Carnival Cruise Line announced a major expansion and renovation to Terminal F at PortMiami to allow the terminal to be capable of supporting this size of ship.
The cruise ship will be powered by LNG, the cleanest burning fossil fuel and will help reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
