New Carnival Horizon will eventually make Miami home, offering Caribbean sailings on a very nicely appointed ship that should fit right in. Airy, open top deck spaces combined with areas of the ship dedicated to sports, relaxation and family fun.
Among the many innovations built into Carnival Horizon, sister-ship to Carnival Vista are new cruise ship features never before seen on a Carnival Cruise Line ship.
Dr Seuss Waterworks – Carnival’s integration of Dr Seuss is complete now with the Dr Seuss element applied in Fun and interesting ways. Instead of babysitters, the program staffs youth spaces with crew who have been educators on land. Ramping up the family fun is Dr Seuss Waterworks, basically a non stop waterpark with multiple features.
Smart Elevators – Old school: You want to go from deck 3 to deck 11 so you push the UP button on one of several elevators then watch to see which one is coming your way. Once it arrives, get in and hope it does not stop on decks 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 too or this is going to take forever.
New Carnival Horizon: Walk to any elevator. Touch the keypad to reveal a menu of floors. The display speaks to direct us to the elevator that will immediately take us to our destination, non-stop.
Guy’s Pig & Anchor Barbecue – Carnival Cruise Line’s partnership with Food Network star Guy Fieri is now seen on every Carnival Cruise Line ship. Recently added to Carnival Dream, Guy’s Pig & Anchor Barbecue, another dining venue that pops up on embarkation day and days at sea when buffets are swamped. New Carnival Horizon has a new standalone version of Guy’s Pig & Anchor Barbecue. This one is also complimentary on days at sea and embarkation day. Totally new for Carnival Horizon, this is also an alternative dining venue with sit down menu.
Bonsai Teppanyaki – New Carnival Horizon cruise ship features don’t stop there either. Also on board, an extension of the popular Bonzai Sushi dining venue, adding teppanyaki dining. Bonsai Teppanyaki will offer a wide-ranging menu with authentic delicacies from the Far East prepared by highly skilled chefs who will create tantalizing dishes on custom-built stations that form the center of the venue’s two eight-seat tables.

Carnival Horizon is currently sailing a series of Mediterranean sailings before stopping in New York for christening on the way to year-round deployment from Miami. That’s good news for east coast cruise travelers but those on the west coast have not been forgotten. Next ship Carnival Panorama comes directly to California, sailing from Long Beach.
