Royal Caribbean added larger than life animals to the decks of their first two Quantum class ships, and now the cruise line will also add one to their newest ship, Ovation of the Seas.
Two pandas, a mother and her cub, will be added tomorrow to the outside deck of Ovation of the Seas Royal Caribbean has confirmed. Ovation of the Seas was built for the Chinese cruise market and panda bears have been increasing used as the emblem of China. China is the only place in the world where giant pandas live outside of captivity.
Felicia is the name of the polar bear on Quantum of the Seas. A 32 foot giraffe named Gigi was added to Anthem of the Seas. The name for the pandas that will be placed on Ovation of the Seas has not yet been announced.
Royal Caribbean took ownership of Ovation of the Seas late last week at a ceremony in Bremerhaven, Germany. This 3rd Quantum class ship can carry 4,905 passengers at maximum capacity and is in the second largest class of cruise ships in the world at 168,000 gross tons, behind only the Oasis class ships.
