The victim, a 56 year old male passenger who was on the cruise with his wife, decided to visit a beach to go swimming while in Cozumel.  The incident happened at Sky Reef Beach Club at approximately 12:20 p.m. when a body was seen floating behind a buoy.

Angel Pool, a local tour guide, rushed into the water to pull the man out.  Emergency services were called and paramedics from a private clinic attempted to resuscitate him.  Unfortunately, he no longer had vital signs.  His wife told authorities that he had recently been suffering from respiratory problems.  His body was taken to Medical Services and will be transported back to the United States.

Carnival Triumph was on a four night cruise from Galveston, Texas with Cozumel being the only stop of the cruise.  Cruise Fever sends our condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Herberger. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.
