Ports and Length of Cruises

The Magic will offer a wide array of cruises for its passengers.  There will be 6 and 7 day cruises from the port in Galveston Texas that will sail to the western Caribbean and these will take place in the colder months of November – March.

There is also a transatlantic cruise on the Carnival Magic that will take place in October and that trip will bring the ship to Texas from Spain on a 16 day journey.

During the hot summer months the Magic will be in Europe and the Mediterranean from June through September.  During this time the ship will leave from the port in Barcelona Spain with 9-12 day cruises

Main Atrium

The Carnival Magic’s atrium just screams luxury and is a true wonder to behold.  You will feel like you are on a first class cruise ships when you see the brilliant lights and bronze decor that gives this room a magical glow.

Ocean Plaza

The Ocean Plaza is a great blend of outdoor and indoor living space that has the feel of a resort and the functionality of a patio.  Even though you are inside it still has the outdoor feel so you never feel far from the sound of the ocean waters.  This is where you will find the internet cafe, dance floor and a few other amenities as well.

Water Slides

waterworks-park-carnival-magicCarnival is known for its intricate and fun water slides.  With the Magic this is no exception and they have really stepped it up this time.  There is a really long orange water slide that swoops you down into the cool waters of the water bowl and there is the yellow slide that has all kinds of loops and twists and turns to keep you guessing as you scream all the way down into the waterworks belly.  With 3 waterslides in all, any water sports lover will probably be spending a lot of time at this part of the ship.

The SportsSquare

Besides having a 2 level mini golf course and a full size basketball court there are many fun things to do on this ship.  The basketball court actually has hoops on the side of the court as well so you can get more playing time if a lot of people are wanting to shoot.  There is also an indoor/outdoor soccer court on the basketball court with mini size goals for those soccer enthusiasts.  And who can forget the track which runs around all of the sports venues for those track stars wanting to keep in shape while enjoying ocean views in every direction.

Oh, and who can forget the first ever ropes course on a cruise ship with rope swinging bridges, obstacles, and rope challenges to test the resolve of any adrenaline junkie on board.

Pools

During the hot part of the day on a sea day the pools are the busiest part of the ship, but with multiple pools you can enjoy more freedom to work on your backstroke.  But there is one pool that is different on the Carnival Magic.  It has a HUGE TV screen above it so you can enjoy movies and shows while you take a dip to cool off.  And there are thatch roofed huts right next to the pools if you want to watch the big screen while hanging out in the shade.

For the Kids

The Magic has all kinds of programs for kids so you can go do your grown up things while the kids have a blast as well.  Carnival has an award winning program with their Camp Carnival, Circle C and Club 02 for the different age groups.  This is not just a daycare but a fun place for kids to play games, interact with each other and just enjoy the funner side of cruising with excellent adult supervision.

The Spa

The Magic’s spa is revolutionary and has really set the bar high for other cruise ships.  There are 2 different places for working out and for relaxing and there is a gorgeous fountain in the spa which has big windows for enjoying the views as you listen to the fountain and take in the scenes of the Caribbean.

Just want to get away with the adults?  There is an adult only area called Serenity with hammocks, lawn chairs made of wood to keep you cool and relaxed.

Dining Areas

Carnival pretty much started over with a new slate when they redesigned the dining areas.  They are more spacious and more beautiful with modern chandeliers and a chic look that makes you feel like a king.

The steak house and buffet areas are about the same as you would expect on other Carnival ships but the Italian restaurant on the ship is what really impressed me.  The gilded ceilings and columns give you a little slice of Italy while on the open seas.  The name of the Italian restaurant is Cucina Del Capitano.   Remember that you have to pay extra for dining at these places but they are great if you have a hankering for some ethnic food and just can’t wait for it to be served in the main dining halls.

Entertainment

The Carnival Magic’s entertainment has kicked it up a notch too.  The theater is magnificent with great acoustics and ample room to be able to watch the live shows with distractions.
