Multiple news outlets are reporting a lifeboat accident that took place during a drill left one crew member dead and another four injured on Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of the Seas.
The incident happened during a safety drill in Marseille, France when a lifeboat detached from the ship and fell. All five crew members were in the boat taking part in the drill when the accident occurred.
It is currently unknown what caused the lifeboat to fall 30 feet into the water. Two of the crewmen were taking to a local hospital in Marseille.
The cruise line posted the following messages to their corporate Twitter account.
Sad news to share that a #HarmonyoftheSeas crew member has died of injuries suffered during a lifeboat drill conducted in Marseille, France.

Harmony of the Seas is the largest cruise ship in the world at 227,000 gross tons and can carry more than 9,000 passengers and crew members at maximum capacity.
