Royal Caribbean, the world’s largest cruise line, has announced a fleet expansion with the order of a 3rd Icon class cruise ship that will enter service in 2025.
The cruise ship will join its two sister ships – to be delivered in 2022 and 2024, respectively – in Royal Caribbean International’s fleet, an industry leader in innovation, clean technology, and breakthrough ship design.
Michael Bayley, President and CEO, Royal Caribbean International, gave the following statement: “These are exciting times for Royal Caribbean, and we have an incredible partner in Meyer Turku to bring to life now three vessels of what will be a remarkable class of ships.
Building on our vision with the addition of a third order is a testament to our confidence in the innovative design and energy-efficient technology and engineering that will, without a doubt, make Icon class a game changer.”
Royal Caribbean currently has three Icon class cruise ships on order to go along with two more Oasis class ships. The Oasis class are the largest class of cruise ships in the world.
Royal Caribbean has given few details about the Icon class ships. We do know that they will be around 200,000 gross tons in size and be powered by LNG.

Royal Caribbean currently has 26 cruise ships in service.
