Celebrity Cruises has added a charge for guests who choose the beverage package one of the “free perks” on their cruise ships. This new pricing went into effect on Thursday, October 10, 2019.
Starting this past Thursday, passengers who choose the beverage package as one of their perks will now pay $14 per day, per person extra. Suites are excluded from the price increase as it only includes inside, oceanview, and balcony staterooms.
This new charge will affect all new bookings on or after October 10, 2019. It will also include any bookings serviced/modified that involves selecting beverage as a perk on October 10 and onwards.
Celebrity Cruises said that the reason for this increase in pricing is due to the increased cost of beverages. The cruise line stated that they have been absorbing the increased costs for the past several years.
The beverage package is one of four perks that Celebrity guests can choose when they book a cruise. The other perks include free WiFi, prepaid gratuities, and onboard credit. These three perks will not have an additional charge like the one that comes with the beverage package.
This new cost does not apply to sailings in the Galapagos since pricing is all-inclusive.
Since Zenith members receive a complimentary Premium Beverage Package as part of their tier benefits, Celebrity Cruises recommends members choose another perk and obtain their beverage package benefit onboard.
