The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has officially ruled the death of 24-year-old Briana Miller aboard Carnival Firenze as a suicide.

Miller died on April 27, 2026, after going over the balcony of her stateroom and landing on a deck below while the ship was sailing near Santa Catalina Island off the Southern California coast.
She was traveling with family members on a short Baja Mexico cruise from Long Beach.
Investigation and Findings
According to the latest reports, the cause of death was blunt trauma, and the manner has now been determined to be suicide.
The update comes more than two months after the incident, following an investigation that included the FBI boarding the Carnival ship.
Carnival Cruise Line previously shared:
“Carnival’s Care Team is supporting the guest’s family, and our thoughts and prayers are with them and their loved ones.”
This heartbreaking conclusion comes after Cruise Fever initially reported on the 24-year-old cruise passenger falling onto deck 5 of the ship around 2 AM.
Early reports noted the family alerted the crew shortly after the incident, and authorities launched a full investigation.
This remains a developing story and serves as a sad reminder for anyone struggling with suicidal thoughts to reach out and ask for help.
Our thoughts and prayers remain with the Miller family and all those affected by this profound loss.
