Royal Caribbean has announced that one of their cruise ships will switch to a new homeport in 2021 and will now not sail out of Venice, Italy.
Rhapsody of the Seas will move to Ravenna, Italy for the summer of 2021. Royal Caribbean said that the reason to move the ship out of Venice was due to increased concerns regarding port congestion and the ability to control port traffic in Venice.
Ravenna is located roughly 90 miles south of Venice on the Adriatic Sea.
The cruise ship will sail six, seven, and eight night cruises to the Greek Isles and Croatia from May 1, 2021 until October 23, 2021.
Rhapsody of the Seas is a Vision class cruise ship from Royal Caribbean and has been in service since May 1997.
