Royal Caribbean has announced the addition of triple occupancy staterooms on 10 cruise ships across their fleet. The cruise line has added sofa beds on select cruise ships and staterooms to improve the availability of higher occupancy cabins.
Royal Caribbean began the roll-out of these new triple occupancy staterooms at the beginning of this month and is now available on Symphony of the Seas, Harmony of the Seas, Allure of the Seas, Oasis of the Seas, Independence of the Seas, Liberty of the Seas, Adventure of the Seas, Explorer of the Seas, Mariner of the Seas, and Navigator of the Seas.
The cruise line updated the digital deck plans of the 10 cruise ships where the sofa beds were added on or before June 17, 2018. The deck plans use the “partial triangle” symbol to denote the new sofa bed staterooms.
As of June 17, 2018, the Royal Caribbean booking engines will denote such staterooms as triple occupancy and will indicate “Sofa Bed Twin” as the third berth accommodation within the stateroom detail. To ensure that staterooms are utilized to the maximum capacity, reservations will be administered via triple guarantees within applicable categories. Once named, a stateroom will be randomly assigned.
Maximum guest counts remain unchanged for the 10 cruise ships. This initiative simply allows the opportunity to further maximize the number of guests on each sailing, as well as offer additional triple staterooms for those in need of higher occupancy accommodations.
I imagine they will continue charging the same for the third guest as the first. They are the only cruise line that I know that does this. This is despite the fact that the third guest will be on a sofa!
