Cruise Line Cancels Port Calls Due to Security Concerns

Holland America Line has canceled all port calls to Acapulco, Mexico through 2018 due to recent security concerns.

Holland America Line said in a statement that itineraries that had Acapulco as a scheduled port stop will be switched with other destinations in the country. The cruise line had eight cruises with Acapulco on the itinerary.

Acapulco and areas inland in the Pacific coast state of Guerrero have been plagued by high levels of crime and drug gang killings.  This led Holland America Line to stop port stops to the Mexican resort destination.

Currently, only a handful of cruise lines will be visiting Acapulco in 2017-2018 including Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, and Crystal Cruises. Acapulco receives anywhere from one to three cruise ship visits a month.
