Royal Caribbean’s Icon class cruise ships are the world’s largest at just under 250,000 gross tons in size.

Royal Caribbean currently has two Icon class ships (Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas) in service with another two under construction.
Earlier today, the cruise line announced that the first piece of steel was cut for Icon 5 at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Turku, Finland.
The steel-cutting ceremony is a time-honored tradition that marks the start of construction on a new ship. Over the next two and a half years, thousands of experts across design, naval engineering, architecture and more will come together to build Icon 5.

The currently unnamed fifth Icon class ship will debut in 2028. Royal Caribbean has yet to release the homeport for the ship or where it will sail to.
Royal Caribbean’s third Icon class ship, Legend of the Seas, will make its debut this summer in Europe before heading to Florida for cruises to the Caribbean.
The cruise line said that the name of the fourth Icon class ship that debuts in 2027 will be announced soon.
Royal Caribbean also has options with the shipyard to build a sixth and seventh Icon class ship if they choose to do so.
