There were four new cruise ships added to the fleets of the major cruise lines in 2014: Costa Diadema, Norwegian Getaway, Quantum of the Seas, and the Regal Princess. However, it was Quantum of the Seas that received nearly half of the votes.
Quantum of the Seas is one of the most anticipated new ships in the cruise industry in years bringing many new features that have never before been added to a cruise ship. The vessel is currently the 3rd largest in the world and can hold nearly 5,000 passengers.
For the first time ever, passengers can ride bumper cars at sea and experience a skydiving simulator. For those looking for a unique view of the ship, the North Star rises 300 feet above sea level. Every cabin on the Quantum of the Seas has a view since all inside staterooms feature a virtual balcony.
The Norwegian Getaway, Norwegian Cruise Line’s 2nd Breakaway Class ship, came second in voting followed closely by the Regal Princess. The Costa Diadema finished a distant 4th.
Voting was open from January until November 30, 2014 on CruiseFever.net. Multiple votes from the same IP address were discarding giving each household one vote. A record number of votes were cast as thousands of cruisers voiced their opinions on the best in the cruise industry.
