A young couple Andrew and Cathrin had the perfect plan, go on a cruise and get married on a tropical island in the Bahamas. They embarked on Carnival Sunshine on October 18, 2015 with plans to get married on Half Moon Cay on October 21.
Unfortunately due to weather, the ship was unable to tender to the private island and Carnival Sunshine spent the day at sea. The couple contacted John Heald on Facebook and told them about the situation. Heald contacted Jamie Dee, the cruise director on Carnival Sunshine. Jamie decided to do something she had never done before, perform a symbolic wedding at sea. The staff on Carnival Sunshine pulled out all the stops for their first Lido Deck wedding ceremony.
Andrew and Cathrin, along with 29 family and friends, invited the entire ship to their ceremony on the lido deck. While the wedding wasn’t a legal ceremony, the bride told Jamie “you made my wedding incredible”. Hats off to Carnival Cruise Line for turning an unfortunate situation into a day one young couple will never forget.
