Carnival Ecstasy Passenger Dies After Falling Off Ship’s Mast

A passenger died this morning after falling from the mast of the Carnival Ecstasy.  The cruise ship was returning back to the Port of Miami from a cruise to the Bahamas when the incident occurred.

The 20 year old male passenger from North Carolina had entered into a restricted area, climbed the forward mast, and then fell 30 feet onto the deck below.  He was pronounced dead at the hospital and his identity has not yet been identified.

Police said that there was no foul play involved and do not know why the passenger entered into the restricted area.  An investigation is underway by the Miami Police.
