This past week, Holland America Line celebrated the beginning of construction on their newest cruise ship when the keel was laid at Fincantieri’s Marghera shipyard in Italy.
This new class of ship will be the Pinnacle Class and will hold 2,650 passengers. The ship will be the largest cruise ship ever built by Holland America at 99,500 gross tons. The ship is expected to be completed in February, 2016.
The ship will showcase decors by designer and architect Bjorn Storbraaten of Oslo Norway and hospitality designer Adam Tihany who is based in New York City.
This Pinnacle Class ship has yet to be named and will be the first cruise ship built by Holland America since the MS Nieuw Amsterdam was competed in 2010.
Stein Kruse, the president and CEO of Holland America Line gave the following statement:
“The keel laying of our new Pinnacle Class vessel heightens the anticipation for delivery because very soon we’ll see the ship begin to take shape.
As the largest ship ever built for Holland America Line, the vessel features many innovations and new features, and we’re excited to see it all come together over the next year and a half.”
