A few months ago, Holland America Line announced a major $500 million plan called Evolution to upgrade several of their cruise ships. Today, they released that Zuiderdam will be the second cruise ship to receive a radical makeover that includes 32 cabins for solo cruisers.

Evolution will bring Pinnacle Class experiences to older ships in the cruise line’s fleet. This not only includes new staterooms and suites, but also the addition of Grand Dutch Café.
New accommodations being added to Zuiderdam include the addition of a reimagined Pinnacle Suite, two new Bridgeview Suites, 14 Vista Suites and 32 Solo Verandah staterooms.
The Bridgeview Suites will be two suites located above the bridge offering sweeping, forward-facing views with wraparound windows, a private balcony, and distinct living and sleeping spaces.

The Pinnacle Class favorite, Vista Suites, will be added to Zuiderdam and feature spacious accommodations, oversized windows and a private verandah.
The Pinnacle Suite will be reimagined and is the most expansive accommodation on board the ship.

The Solo Verandah cabins will be purpose-built for solo cruises and have a designed living space and a private balcony.
Beth Bodensteiner, president of Holland America Line, gave the following statement:
“We’ve seen strong interest in our Bridgeview Suites and Solo Verandahs on Oosterdam, and we’re excited to make these new accommodations available on Zuiderdam. We’re building on that momentum and look forward to sharing more details, including itineraries, very soon.”
Bookings will open for cruises on the renovated Zuiderdam on July 30, 2026.
