Tropical Storm Harvey, the eighth named storm of the 2017 Hurricane Season, has forced at least one cruise line to make changes to itineraries on one of their cruise ships.
Tropical Storm Harvey currently has winds of 40 mph and is moving towards the Western Caribbean at 21 mph. The storm is not expected to strengthen into a hurricane at this time.
Norwegian Cruise Line has made a change to the itinerary on Norwegian Escape. The ship will now sail to the Eastern Caribbean with port stops in St. Maarten, St. Thomas, and Nassau. The ship was originally scheduled to sail to the Western Caribbean and visit Cozumel, Costa Maya, Harvest Caye, and Roatan.
Norwegian said the reason for the change was so that guests could have the “best vacation experience possible”.
So far, no other changes to cruises have been announced due to the tropical storm. Cruise Fever will update this page if any other changes are made to cruise itineraries.
It is rare that a cruise gets canceled due to a tropical storm or hurricane. The most common adjustment made by cruise lines are altered itineraries away from the storm. Read: What happens when there is a hurricane during my cruise dates?
