Royal Caribbean Adds New Program For Cabin Upgrades on Cruises

Want to get a cabin upgrade on your next cruise? Royal Caribbean has added a new program that will let you bid for cabin upgrades on the cruise line’s 25 ships.

Starting today, Royal Caribbean is launching RoyalUp, a bid-based stateroom upgrade program. In a few simple steps, you can score a fantastic upgrade that can move you up to an oceanview, balcony, or even the most expansive suites at sea.  Here is how it will work.

If the sailing that you are booked on is eligible for the program, you will receive an email and have the opportunity to browse through various stateroom options with associated minimum bids.

You will then bid the dollar amount that you are willing to pay for a cabin upgrade. You can even make bids on multiple cabin categories to increase your chances of being upgraded. (You will only pay for one upgrade)

The bids are priced per person and are based on double occupancy. (Sorry solo travelers) The good part is that you only have to pay for the upgrades for the first two people in a stateroom. If you have three or four guests staying in one stateroom, you only have to pay for two.

Offers will be accepted up to two days prior to sailing and charged to the credit card used when the upgrade was submitted. You can even modify or cancel your bid up until two days before departure.

If you booked your cruise through a travel agent, you can even let them handle all of the bidding for you.

If your bid is accepted, you will move up to the stateroom that you bid on. If your bid is not accepted, you will not be charged. You have nothing to lose by bidding for an upgrade on your next Royal Caribbean cruise.

By using this new program, you won’t lose any promotions that you received when you first booked your cabin.

Accepted offers will earn CAS points at the original stateroom category purchased, and not the category of the upgraded stateroom.
