The federal government will convert the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal into a temporary hospital providing much needed beds for the New York City area.  The 182,000 square foot cruise terminal will be able to add an extra 1,000 hospital bed to the city.

The Brooklyn Cruise Terminal is mainly used by Cunard Line’s Queen Mary 2 ocean liner.

There is no word yet on whether the federal government will use cruise ships as temporary hospitals.  Micky Arison, Chairman of Carnival Corporation, has offered the use of cruise ships from several of their cruise lines.
