Windstar Cruises, a small ship cruise line, has announced that one of their cruise ships will no longer sail in the Middle East this winter but will instead sail in the Mediterranean.
Star Legend, a 312 passenger all-suite cruise ship, will now sail to Rome, Barcelona, Nice, Marseille, Florence, and other popular ports in the Mediterranean this winter.
The winter season will allow guests sailing on Star Legend to visit Europe with fewer crowds and easier access to historical and cultural landmarks. Cruisers will also be able to visit the Christmas markets during December and go to the Light Festival in Florence.
The new cruises will be seven nights long and the cruise ship will sail in Europe from December 2023 through April 2024. The cruises will sail between Rome and Barcelona with overnight port stops in Rome, Monte Carlo, and Barcelona.
The last of the new Mediterranean cruises is an eight night cruise from Rome to Athens visiting the Amalfi Coast and Greece. A Christmas holiday cruise can be booked as a eight or nine day cruise.
Windstar Cruises President Christopher Prelog gave the following statement: “The ship was originally scheduled to sail in the Middle East. We’ve postponed our launch in that region to begin in November 2024. With a ship in the Mediterranean, we saw an opportunity to offer guests a legendary winter season in Europe. Our small ships and intimate atmosphere provide a truly unique way to explore Europe’s winter wonderlands, while enjoying the magic of the season and the comforts and casual luxury that Windstar is known for.”
