The world’s largest cruise line is about to get even bigger. The keel laying ceremony for the Carnival Vista was held at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy earlier today.
The much anticipated Carnival Vista is set to debut in the spring of 2016 and will be the 25th ship in Carnival’s fleet. The Vista will also be the largest cruise ship ever built by Carnival at 133,500 gross tons and will carry nearly 4,000 passengers. The Carnival Dream, Breeze, and Magic are currently tied for the largest at 130,000 gross tons.
The keel laying ceremony, a shipyard tradition for hundreds of years, marks the official start of construction of the ship.
Carnival has been quiet about design details, the future home port, and itineraries for the Vista. They have announced that the ship will feature the popular Fun Ship 2.0 options and several new innovations that will be unique to this ship. Cruise Fever will have all details about the Carnival Vista when they are released.
