For the first time in several years, Holland America Line will be expanding by adding another cruise ship to their fleet as Carnival Corporation moves a couple of ships to different cruise lines.

Carnival Corporation is moving Arcadia from sister cruise line P&O Cruises over to Holland America Line in 2029, and it will be the cruise line’s 12th ship in its fleet.
The cruise ship shares the same basic layout as Holland America’s Vista class ships: Oosterdam, Noordam, Westerdam and Zuiderdam, so it will fit in perfectly with the fleet.
The 2,000-passenger cruise ship will provide additional flexibility as Holland America Line continues to develop its global deployment. Arcadia debuted in 2005 and has sailed with P&O Cruises for its entire life.
Before the ship enters Holland America’s fleet, it will undergo a transformation and receive new venues and features that will be announced over the next few months.
Beth Bodensteiner, president of Holland America Line, gave the following statement:
“Holland America Line continues to see strong demand from guests seeking immersive travel experiences, genuine hospitality, and perfectly sized ships. Adding Arcadia allows us to welcome more guests while building on everything they already love about our brand. As a Vista Class ship, she is a natural fit and an exciting extension of Holland America Evolution, the largest guest experience transformation in our 153-year history.”
“We create experiences for the curious, offering new perspectives and deeper connections to the world and each other. Whether it’s strengthening our presence in favorite destinations or opening opportunities to sail in new ways, this additional capacity helps us offer even more choices to travelers who believe the journey should be as rewarding as the destination.
“At the same time, this is one chapter in a larger story. It supports our near-term growth while fitting alongside the company’s broader approach to modernization and future fleet expansion, including the thoughtful consideration of newbuilds. There’s more to come as we continue investing in our fleet and guest experience.”
Second Ship Moving

In addition to Arcadia moving to Holland America Line, Carnival Corp. will move Queen Anne from Cunard over to P&O Cruises. The cruise ship will receive an extensive renovation to match other P&O ships before entering service with them in 2029.
Queen Anne is currently the newest ship in Cunard’s fleet and debuted in 2024. The ship is built on the same platform as Holland America’s Pinnacle-class vessels.
Carnival Corporation has moved ships around over the past several years. They last dissolved their P&O Cruises Australia brand and converted two ships to Carnival Cruise Line.
Carnival Corporation is the world’s largest cruise company, and they operate a total of eight cruise lines.
