Guests who booked a Virgin Voyages sailing on the ship Resilient Lady will no longer be enjoying the last Miami voyage before the ship heads to Europe.
Impacted guests (or “Sailors” as the company calls them) have received notifications from the cruise line, saying the April 28, 2027 sailing has been canceled due to a private charter.

Resilient Lady is currently sailing out of PortMiami and will keep homeporting in South Florida until May 2027 when the ship moves to Barcelona for 5 months.
The last roundtrip sailing out of Miami before this repositioning cruise is the one that was booked by the private charter.
Travelers affected by the cancellation are being given several options, which of course, also include a full refund for the cost of the sailing.
Option 1: Direct Transfer to Valiant Lady (May 6, 2027)
Sailors can move their reservation to Valiant Lady’s May 6, 2027 sail date if they’d like. Virgin Voyages will honor the original cruise rate and carry over any special booking promotions or perks attached to the original reservation.
Option 2: Rebook an Alternate Spring 2027 Departure
Guests can choose to switch to any qualifying 4-night or 5-night Virgin Voyages itinerary departing in April or May 2027. With this setup, the cruise line will protect the original fare and promotional rates, which allows travelers to switch dates without losing their original booking discounts.
Extra Incentive: Bonus Sailor Loot
To sweeten the deal for guests who do choose to rebook rather than cancel completely, Virgin Voyages is adding onboard credit (Sailor Loot) to their account:
- $100 per cabin for standard staterooms
- $300 per suite for RockStar and Mega RockStar Quarters
Note: Travelers should check their official cancellation notification from Virgin Voyages to confirm exact eligibility for their cabin tier.
Option 3: Full Cash Refund
For guests who had their heart set on that last PortMiami sailing before the ship moves off to Barcelona for the season and just want to forget the whole thing, a full cash refund is being offered.
Travel Agent Note: Anyone who booked their trip through a travel advisor (known in Virgin parlance as a “First Mate”) will need to contact their advisor directly to submit their refund request or process a date transfer.
Yes, This Happened Recently as Well
It was just a couple weeks ago that Virgin Voyages canceled another sailing on Brilliant Lady due to a private charter booking the ship. That time it was for Halloween sailing a year out.
This time, the cruise is less than 6 months away. It might seem odd for a cruise that’s already paid for to be suddenly removed from your future plans, but these charter sailings do happen from time to time.
When a company, music festival host, or private organization buys out an entire vessel, it provides cruise lines with guaranteed revenue. And to look at the bright side, this revenue helps keep prices low for the other sailings.
The timing is never convenient for the ones who already made the plans, though. Typically, these charter cancellations happen way in advance, so someone must have really wanted that last April sailing.
For impacted cruisers, the silver lining is some extra credit for another sailing or just starting over with a full refund. Either way, in the cruising world, it pays to be flexible.
