Carnival Adding Pre-Paid Gratuity Stickers to Sign & Sail Cards

If you prepay your gratuities for an upcoming cruise on a Carnival cruise ship, your Sign & Sail card will soon have a sticker on it so crew members and other passengers will know that you prepaid your tips.

Carnival Cruise Line has started to add a sticker that says “Crew love, I pre-paid my gratuities” to Sign & Sail cards.

In addition to the sticker, a card is also being placed in staterooms when guests prepay gratuities. The card reads, “On behalf of our entire team, thank you for pre-paying your gratuities. Your support is greatly appreciated and helps recognize the many team members who work together to make your cruise vacation fun, memorable, and enjoyable.

“Thank you for choosing Carnival, and we trust that you’re having a wonderful cruise filled with fun, relaxation, and unforgettable moments!”

A recent cruiser on Carnival Panorama posted the following video showing the sticker on her Sign & Sail card.

Carnival Cruise Line’s Brand Ambassador John Heald confirmed the stickers were being added to Sign & Sail cards. He said in an email that this just started and he will soon share more on it.

What Carnival guests are saying about the sticker

There are mixed reactions among Carnival cruisers, although most seem to be against the sticker.

In a Carnival Facebook group run by fans, several of Carnival’s loyal cruisers said the sticker is tacky or cheesy, while another called it juvenile.

Sheri C. added, “What’s the point? Like, why do they think this is a good idea? I really can’t think of any logical reason behind this.”

Cindy B. said, “Childish on Carnival’s behalf. Trying to belittle people is crazy. Just because you don’t give money before you cruise. Thanks, but I will save the interest myself and pay when I get on the cruise. I am going to start looking at other cruise lines always been loyal to Carnival but am getting tired of all the changes and the attitude with them. They are going too far.”

Several posted that they don’t really care either way, while some posted in support of the stickers. Deanna M. said she is “THRILLED” that Carnival is doing this.

Others stated that it’s no one’s business whether they have prepaid their tips or not.

Gratuities on Carnival Cruise Ships

Carnival Cruise Line charges $17 per person, per day for gratuities for all inside, oceanview, and balcony cabins. For suites, the cost is $19 per person, per day.

Guests can choose to prepay tips anytime up to 11:59 pm, one day prior to sailing.

The cruise line said that 100% of gratuities are distributed to the crew who you interact with on your sailing, such as your stateroom attendants, dining and culinary services staff, as well as other members of the onboard team who work behind the scenes to enhance your overall cruise experience.

Guests do have the option of removing daily gratuities on board the ship by visiting Guest Services. Some do this because they are cheap; others prefer to tip cash to crew members they interact with.
