Carnival Orders Another Cruise Ship, Sister Ship to Carnival Vista

The world’s largest cruise line is about to get even bigger.  Carnival Cruise Line announced that they have ordered another cruise ship that will be a sister ship to the Carnival Vista.  The Carnival Vista will be the cruise line’s 25th cruise ship when the vessel is completed in 2016.

This yet to be named new ship will be launched in March 2018 and will be built in the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy. The ship will hold up to 3,954 passengers and will be around 133,500 gross tons.

Arnold Donald, the president and CEO of Carnival Corp, said that this new ship will provide passengers with the best possible experience.  He went on to say that the vessel will have the latest features, accommodations and innovations that will help bring the cruise experience to life.

This new cruise ship will be the 26th in Carnival’s fleet, the most of any cruise line.  Carnival has stated in the past that they plan on continuing to build cruise ships of this size and stay away from the mega sized ships that other cruise lines are building.

Giuseppe Bono, Fincantieri Chief Executive Office, gave the following statement:

“To have been once more chosen for such an important order is the best recognition for our skills. This is an extremely important sign, especially if we consider the shipbuilding industry’s present period of evolution, both in Europe and Asia.

Today Fincantieri can count on a solid order book, without equal in terms of diversification and quality of the product, which is a testament to our leadership in the cruise ship business sector. This position has been solidified over the years also thanks to our relationship with Carnival, a partnership which has allowed us to grow and which is now strengthened by our recent agreement involving the Chinese market and by today’s orders. We are hopeful that many others will follow in the future.”

Cruise Fever will have all details when more information about this new sister ship to the Vista is announced.  Carnival is holding a special event in New York on Jan 22-24 for members of the media, travel agents, and consumers to announce innovations and unique features that the Carnival Vista is have.

  1. I have been thinking of new names for the new ship.Carnival Leisure, Radiance,Heritage,Platinum,Fantasy,Secret,& Star

  2. Wish they would take the Carnival Elation out of New Orleans. La. And put a new 4 are 5 day ship in New Orleans i’m tired of The Elation. Been on it to many times. So if they are getting a new ship why not put another one in New Orleans and put the Elation some where else. New Orleans need a new ship sailing on the 4 & 5 days going to Cozumel & Progreso. They really need to drop Progreso & go some where new. They are nothing to see at Progreso but nasty & ugly.

    • In Reply: Last year we did a 7 day out of New Orleans and enjoyed the cruise. I always say that if we had 7 days at sea it would be fine with me. I don’t care to see the poverty in many of these ports.
