Carnival Cruise Line has announced that they will be adding a third Vista class ship in 2019, and Carnival Splendor will be transferring to sister cruise line P&O Cruises Australia in late 2019.
This third Vista class ship, a 133,500 gross ton 4,000 passenger vessel, was originally scheduled to join P&O Cruises Australia brand. The ship will offer many of Carnival’s most popular guest features, a wide range of accommodation types and a number of new innovations unique to this vessel. The ship’s name, homeport and itinerary details will be announced at a later date.
P&O Cruises Australia will now receive Carnival Splendor instead of the new build. Carnival Splendor has been in Carnival’s fleet since 2008 but will transfer to Carnival’s sister line in late 2019.
Christine Duffy, President of Carnival Cruise Line, said that they are thrilled to have another Vista class ship joining their fleet. The award winning Carnival Vista has been popular with cruisers since being added to the cruise line’s fleet.
Carnival Cruise Line now has four cruise ships on order. Carnival Horizon, the second Vista class ship, is currently under construction and will enter service in March 2018. The cruise line also has two mega 180,000 gross ton ships ordered with delivery dates in 2020 and 2022.
