Construction has officially started on the 3rd Royal class ship from Princess Cruises with the keel laying ceremony taking place at the Fincantieri Shipyard in Italy.
This yet to be named cruise ship will be the largest ship in Princess’ fleet at 145,000 gross tons. The vessel will carry 3,560 passengers and is scheduled to be completed in 2017. The ship will also be the first vessel designed and built for the Chinese cruise market.
The ship will have all of the signature features of the Royal class ships including the Seawalk, a glass bottomed walkway that extends 28 feet over the edge of the ship. The vessel will also have Princess Live, a multi-story atrium, the largest pastry shop at sea, a fountain and music show, Movies Under the Stars with the largest outdoor screen at sea, and all outside staterooms will have a balcony.
The ship will be based out of Shanghai although complete itineraries have yet to be released. Cruise Fever will all have all updates as Princess Cruises announces specific details about this 3rd Royal Class ship.
