Cruise Delayed Due to Medical Emergency: Carnival Extends Goodwill Gesture to Passengers

Carnival Valor will arrive 12 hours late into Port Canaveral today after the ship returned to Grand Turk due to a medical emergency for one of the passengers on board.
The cruise ship is now scheduled to arrive at 6:00 pm and the cruise line is advising all guests who are scheduled to embark today to arrive no earlier than 9:00 pm. Embarkation will now take place between 9:00 pm and 11:00 pm and the ship will sail shortly after.

Due to the delayed departure, the itinerary has also been slightly altered.  The ship will no longer call on Costa Maya and all passengers who pre-booked excursions for the port will receive an automatic refund.   The itinerary will now consist of three sea days (first two days of the cruise and the last day), and stops in Belize, Roatan, and Cozumel.

Carnival Cruise Line is extending a goodwill gesture to passengers by giving them a 20% future cruise discount due to the delayed departure and canceled port stop.  The cruise line sent an email to passengers saying “We are very sorry for starting your vacation this way and trust you understand the safety and well being of our guests is our number one priority”.

Carnival Valor is a 110,000 gross ton cruise ship that can carry nearly 3,000 passengers.  The ship has been in service since 2004 and is currently sailing seven night cruises to the Eastern and Western Caribbean from Port Canaveral.

  1. Went on carnival March 6. I will never sail again with them. It was a complete nightmare. Told guest service about it everyday, kept getting referred to call 1800 number when trip ended. I did. Customer service did not care to hear the complaints. Had documentation and proof of why I was complaining. Second of all the day we got back from cruise found out my bank account was frozen and carnival was trying to keep charging my card long after our trip. Filed charges of fraud and possibly going further with actions. All I got to say is please second guess whether you take children with you. I am surely glad mine were not with me. The stuff that was done on the boat was no cool.

  2. This also happen to us we we’re supposed sail early evening Feb 22 from Miami our itinerary changed from Cozumel which I was very disappointed ended up at the Bahamas. We drove from Daytona in a rental dropped it off in Miami soon as we were pulling up in a taxi into port of Miami received a recorded message not to show up till after 9 and it was 330 trip wasn’t starting out good I still tried making it a vacation but was really disappointed really wanted to go to Cozumel.

  3. I wish Carnival would do this for us. Sailed on the Fascination 01/25/16 out of Port Canaveral. Was suppose to stop at Half Moon cay, didn’t because of the weather, so they said we would stop at Freeport. Didn’t do that either. We did stop at Nassau. We had 4 sea days out of a 5 day cruise.
