Disney Cruise Line has announced that they will be building an additional two cruise ships that will be added to their currently fleet of four ships.
These two new ships will be built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany and are scheduled to be delivered in 2021 and 2023. The ships will be 135,000 gross tons, slightly larger than the current Fantasy class ships which are the cruise line’s largest vessels. Each of the two new ships will have 1,250 staterooms.
Robert A. Iger, Chairman and Chief Executive Office at The Walt Disney Company, said “We pride ourselves on the unforgettable vacation experiences we deliver to our guests each and every day, and the expansion of our Disney fleet will allow us to create even more magical memories for families at sea and in incredible cruise destinations around the world”.
The ships names and itineraries will be announced at a later date. The new cruise ships promise to have exciting new innovations that will be uniquely fun and distinctly Disney.
Cruise Fever will have all updates on these two new ships from Disney Cruise Line when they are announced.
Disney Cruise Line currently operates a fleet of four cruise ships: Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, Disney Dream, and Disney Fantasy.
Disney first broke into the cruise market in 1998 and has been an industry leader in innovation and game changing creativity. Their Fantasy class ships brought several firsts to the industry including the first water coaster at sea and virtual portholes on inside staterooms.
