Workers at the Monfalcone shipyard cut the first piece of steel for the Carnival Vista. The 135,000 gross ton cruise ship will be the 25th ship in Carnival’s fleet and the largest ship to sail under the Carnival brand.
Now that the first piece of steel has been cut, construction can begin on the Vista. Carnival first announced the Vista back in July, 2013. The name was chosen over the Carnival Splash and Sunrise.
The 4,000 passenger Vista is being built by Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri. The ship will sport a new design and have a new variety of entertainment, bar, and dining options.
The ship will also have the popular Funship 2.0 enhancement that includes Guy’s Burger Joint, EA Sports Bar, Punchliner Comedy Club presented by George Lopez, Alchemy Bar, RedFrog Rum Bar, and the BlueIguana Cantina and Tequila Bar.
The Vista is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2016. Carnival Cruise Line has yet to announce the itinerary for this new ship or which home port she will sail out of.
The ship will also be equipped with the new generation of ABB’s Azipod XO units.
Carnival is currently the largest cruise line in the world with 24 cruise ships. Carnival Corp. owns half of the cruise ships in the world that sail under the brands Princess, Costa, Cunard, Holland America, AIDA, P & O Cruises, Ibero, and Seabourn.
Cruise Fever will have all updates when Carnival releases more information regarding the Vista.
