First Impressions of Carnival’s Newest Cruise Ship, Carnival Vista

We are currently on a six night cruise to the Western Caribbean on Carnival Cruise Line’s newest and largest cruise ship, Carnival Vista. Having been on board for a little over 24 hours now, here’s our first impressions of the cruise ship.

Ship – Carnival Vista is packed with features and we love the modern look of the ship. There is a good amount of deck place with great views at the aft pool. We are still learning our way around the ship so I’m sure we will discover more features, but we love the atrium, waterpark, Skyride, and Havana Bar/Lounge.  The layout and decor in the buffet is one of the best I’ve seen on a cruise ship. We appreciate that the casino is not on the main Promenade like other Carnival ships, so there is no need to walk through it.

Cabin – We are staying in a balcony cabin on deck 9, right below the buffet. The stateroom has a decent size balcony, 2 USB outlets (and 2 110 power outlets), a flat screen TV, and a large couch. The shower is also larger than normal, something I’m sure everyone appreciates. The cabin is comfortable and just right for a week long cruise.

Food – One thing that has really impressed us is the number of dining options on Carnival Vista. Everywhere you look there is a place to grab a bite to eat. There were 10 different places to eat lunch today, eight of them complimentary. We chose Bonsai Sushi and loved it, we will definitely be back. Yesterday (embarkation day) we ate at Cucina del Capitano lunch and it is a great venue to get away from the crowds at the buffet.

Cruise Director – While I have heard and read about Matt Mitcham for years, I now understand what the buzz is all about. I have never seen a cruise director connect with the passengers more than Matt has. He’s everywhere! One minute he’s cracking jokes on stage in the Liquid Lounge at the Port Talk and the next, he’s breaking it down on a packed Lido Deck. If the cruise director is an integral part of your cruise, then you’ll want to take a cruise on Carnival Vista.

Staff – As with every Carnival cruise I have been on, the friendly staff really knows how to pamper you. They have been great so far with my wife’s food allergy, something that is always a concern before every cruise we take. They have always greeted us with a smile and a hello and have made us feel right at home.

Embarkation – Embarkation was a total breeze, they started boarding around 11:00 am and we were on board by 11:30-40.  It couldn’t have gone any smoother.

You can follow along on our cruise on Carnival Vista on Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat (username: cruisefever for all 3). We will have more about this great ship as our cruise goes on and after our cruise.

  1. just got off the Vista on Sunday after an 8 day itinerary. Great ship. Notably, activities on board include mini-golf, water park slides, really cool rope obstacle course, Skyride, IMax theater, gym, outdoor work out apparatus, track, on and on….. Food offerings? What do you want? Mexican, BBQ, Guy’s Burgers (delicious), Pizza 24/7, Steak, Sushi, Italian…not to mention the regular offerings at the buffet on the Lido deck and main dining halls…… Staff friendly. Staterooms roomy with lot’s of storage (we had balcony on deck 6). Sports bar, cocktail bar, dance club, comedy in the lounge, quality musicians throughout. Only negative…cost of the Carnival Cheers card. Pricey compared to other cruise lines.

  2. The Imax theater shows current run movies and while we were aboard the movies opened on the ship as they opened on land!

  3. We just concluded a 8 day cruise on the Vista February 19th. The Vista is without a doubt one of the best ships I’ve been on.

Keep exploring much more to see!

  4. I will be on the vista in a couple weeks do you know if the IMAX has blockbuster movies that were just released? Thanks
