MSC Cruises, which currently has one only cruise ship based in PortMiami, announced earlier today that they will have three of their newest and largest cruise ships sailing from the Cruise Capital of the World in 2019.
MSC currently has MSC Divina sailing out of Miami to the Caribbean. The ship will be joined for a season by MSC Seaside in December 2017, before heading over to Europe. The cruise line has now announced that they will bring MSC Divina back to Miami and the two ships will be joined by a third ship, a Meraviglia class ship, in 2019.
MSC Cruises stated that one ship will do alternating seven night cruises to the Eastern and Western Caribbean while a second ship will do longer 10 day cruises to the Caribbean islands. Although itineraries have not yet been released for the third ship, it will likely visit ports in the Southern Caribbean.
At 167,000 gross tons, the 5,000 passenger Meraviglia class cruise ship will be one of the largest cruise ships to be based out of PortMiami.
MSC Seaside, the first Seaside class ship and Cruise Fever’s hottest new ship of 2017, will enter service in December and sail week long cruises to the Caribbean. Called “The Ship that Follows the Sun”, MSC Seaside will have the most deck space per passenger than any cruise ship in the world. With a wide Promenade Deck, guests will be closer to the sea than ever before.
The news was announced during the Coin Ceremony for their second Seaside class ship, MSC Seaview, at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy. The keel of MSC Seaview was laid marking the official start of construction of the vessel which is set to debut in the summer of 2018.
The cruise line now has four ships currently under construction.
MSC Cruises has 11 new cruise ships scheduled to debut in the next 10 years as part of a nearly $10 billion investment from the cruise line.
