A video has emerged from the dramatic rescue at sea when the Disney Magic rescued a passenger who had fallen overboard last week on another cruise ship while in route to Cozumel, Mexico.
David Hearn, a passenger on the Disney Magic, was able to film a lifeboat rescue Frank Jade, a passenger who went overboard in the early morning hours on Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas. Jade said that a wave knocked him off of the ship and into the sea.
Frank Jade was in the water for about 5 hours when he was spotted around 6:30 a.m. by Scott Campbell, a passenger who was sitting out on his balcony on the Disney Magic. Campbell ran down to guests services and crew members quickly sprang into action to save Jade.
The video below shows the rescue and Jade being pulled from the water. He was taken to a local hospital in Cozumel with no serious injuries. Thankfully for him, the Disney Magic was following behind the Oasis of the Seas on the same route and he was able to be rescued. Less than 20% of the very few passengers/crew members who go overboard each year are able to be rescued.
