As Viking’s cruises in Egypt continue to grow in popularity, the cruise line floated out another new ship that will sail on the Nile River later this year.

Viking Amun will be a sister ship to Viking Osiris, Viking Aton, Viking Sobek and Viking Hathor. It has 41 cabins and carries up to 82 passengers.

The ship will debut in September 2025 and sail Viking’s 12-day Pharaohs & Pyramids itinerary. You can read our review of this itinerary here.
The trip starts with three nights in Cairo so guests can visit the pyramids, museums, and other iconic sites. They then take a charter flight to Luxor for a seven night cruise on the Nile River. After the cruise, they will fly back to Cairo for one more night before heading home.
Sites that can be visited on the cruise include:
- Temples of Luxor and Karnak
- Tomb of Nefertari in the Valley of the Queens
- Tomb of Tutankhamen in the Valley of the Kings
- Temple of Khnum in Esna
- Dendera Temple complex in Qena
- Temples at Abu Simbel and the High Dam in Aswan
- A colorful Nubian village
Now that the ship floated out, it will move to the final stage of construction, the interior build-out and outfitting.
When the ship debuts, it will give Viking a total of seven ships sailing on the Nile River. The cruise line will grow that fleet to 12 by 2027.
Torstein Hagen, Chairman and CEO of Viking, gave the following statement:
“We are very proud of our growing fleet in Egypt, which we consider to be by far the most elegant vessels on the Nile. Egypt is one of the world’s most captivating destinations, and we look forward to introducing even more curious travelers to this extraordinary region in the coming years.”
