Carnival Cruise Line’s next new cruise ship, Mardi Gras, will feature the world’s first roller coaster on a cruise ship.
Mardi Gras is scheduled to debut in early 2021 and will be the largest cruise ship in Carnival Cruise Line’s fleet. The signature attraction on the cruise ship will be Bolt, the first roller coaster to be added on a cruise ship.
Carnival Cruise Line has released a sneak peek preview of Bolt giving us a first look at the coaster. The roller coaster was assembled on land and tested before being added to the top deck of Mardi Gras.
Shot in Munich, Germany, at Mauer Rides, the manufacturer of the groundbreaking top-deck attraction, the engaging video showcases all that went into creating the incredible heart-racing attraction where guests ride across nearly 800 feet of suspended track achieving speeds of up to 40 miles per hour.
The video illustrates how BOLT was designed and assembled in the Munich factory for the initial unmanned test runs and was reassembled and installed aboard Mardi Gras at the Meyer Turku Shipyard in Finland where the ship is being built.
There’s also computer-generated footage that shows BOLT’s colorful custom-made cars encircling the track past Mardi Gras’ iconic funnel as well as the sprawling Ultimate Playground water park.
Mardi Gras will sail week long cruises to the Caribbean from Port Canaveral, Florida starting in February 2021. View Top Cruises on Mardi Gras
