Royal Caribbean Orders Another Oasis Class Cruise Ship

Royal Caribbean announced earlier today that the cruise line has ordered a 6th Oasis class cruise ship. The Oasis class ships are the largest cruise ships in the world at over 225,000 gross tons.

The sixth and yet to be named Oasis class ship will debut in the fall of 2023. The Oasis class ship have been extremely popular among cruisers and offer a vacation experience unlike any other cruise ship. The first debuted in 2009 and the 5th ship in the class is scheduled to be completed in 2021. The first four are Oasis of the Seas, Allure of the Seas, Harmony of the Seas, and Symphony of the Seas. Each one has been slightly larger than the previous ship in the class.

Richard D. Fain, Chairman and CEO, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd, gave the following statement about the order for a new cruise ship: “It is such a pleasure to announce the order of another Oasis-class ship. This order is a reflection of the exceptional performance of this vessel class and the extraordinary partnership between Chantiers de l’Atlantique and Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.”

This order is contingent upon financing, which is expected to be completed in the second or third quarter of this year.

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. is a global cruise vacation company that controls and operates four global brands: Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, Azamara Club Cruises and Silversea Cruises.
