Royal Caribbean announced today an extension of their cruise cancellations on five cruise ships.
Royal Caribbean originally was planning on resuming cruises to China at the end of June. After further review, they now plan on extending this through July 12 for Quantum of the Seas and their newest cruise ship Spectrum of the Seas. In addition, cruises on Voyager of the Seas have been canceled through September.
Copenhagen, Denmark has restricted all non-essential travel through August 31 and the cruise line has had to cancel sailings on two ships. The Brilliance of the Seas sailing on August 21 and all Jewel of the Seas sailings departing August 8-22 have been canceled.
Royal Caribbean stated that the health and well-being of their guests and crew fuel the decisions they make to cancel sailings.
Guests who were booked on one of the canceled sailings on these five cruise ships have three options. They can receive a full refund, a future cruise credit of 125% of their cruise fare, or move to a qualifying sailing next year and their fare/promotion will be protected (Lift & Shift).
Lift & Shift is an ideal option for those simply wishing to move their cruise vacation to next year, while protecting the original cruise fare and promotion. Select next year’s sailing on the same itinerary type, sailing length, stateroom category, and within the same 4-week window of the original cruise date and you’re all set.
