Royal Caribbean has announced that when Independence of the Seas goes into dry dock in April 2018, the cruise ship will receive a radical bow to stern makeover.
The cruise line posted the following message on their Crown and Anchor Facebook page announcing the new features being added to the cruise ship:
“We’re excited to share that Royal Caribbean International’s Independence of the Seas will receive a bow-to-stern makeover in April 2018. During the revitalization the ship will receive several new features including a trampoline park, water slides, escape rooms, and laser tag. These ideas were proposed by travel agents in the UK and Ireland as part of a contest held with Travel Weekly UK. Stay tuned for more details!”
Royal Caribbean has been adding new features to cruise ships when the vessels go into dry dock. Several water slides were added to Independence of the Seas’ sister ship Liberty of the Seas last year including the Boomerango.
Independence of the Seas is a 154,000 gross ton cruise ship that has been in service since 2008 and can carry 4,370 passengers.
The ship currently sails eight to 14 night cruises in the Mediterranean. Independence of the Seas will arrive back in Ft. Lauderdale on November 13, 2017 and sail four and five night cruise to the Caribbean during the winter months.
I am Diamond Plus with RCCL and I wish they would enclose the solariums on the ships that are not covered. I am taking my family of 6 on a cruise on Navigator And I know the solarium is open because that was my first cruise in 2003.
