Princess Cruises has given an update on Princess Cays, their private island destination in the Bahamas. The island is visited by both Princess and Carnival cruise ships.
Princess Cruises posted the following update that included initial damage reports from Princess Cays:
“Hurricane Dorian Update: We have no ships in the anticipated path of the storm. Initial reports show only cosmetic damage and minor beach erosion on Princess Cays. The safety of our guests and crew is always our first priority, and we are closely monitoring the storm for potential impact to future itineraries. Together with Carnival Corporation, we pledge our support for the Bahamas and other impacted areas as they assess damage and begin recovery efforts. Our focus will be on the priorities established by government and emergency relief officials.”
Princess Cays is located on the island of Eleuthera. The resort area used by Princess and Carnival guests is located on the southeast side of the island. Princess Cays is approximately 200 miles from where Hurricane Dorian made landfall in the Bahamas.
