The shipbuilder that is currently building cruise ships for Princess Cruises, Virgin Voyages, Viking, Holland America Line, MSC Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line, Regent, and other cruise lines has begun to reopen.
Fincantieri has reopened their shipyards in Italy after being closed for over a month due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The shipyards across Italy have been closed since March 16.
Although the shipyards have begun to reopen, they won’t be at full staff until late May or early June. They will be operating with limited staff to start off.
The shipyard is taking safety precautions after reopening. Each staff member will be given a package of 20 masks per week and the shipyard is arranging private transportation so workers won’t have to use public transport.
Gloves and masks will be mandatory by all workers and temperature checks will be taken at entrances.
Fincantieri is currently building or has the orders for the following cruise ships:
Princess Cruises’ Royal class
Viking’s ocean ships
Virgin’s cruise ships
