Princess Cruises is adding 44 new cruises from five major cities after canceling another 21 sailings in Asia.
The cruise line is moving one of their cruise ships to Australia six months earlier than planned and will offer a range of cruises from five cities. The new cruises on Sapphire Princess will open for bookings on February 27, 2020.
Princess Cruises canceled all of Sapphire Princess’ 2020 sailings from Shanghai. The ship was originally scheduled to sail out of Shanghai until the September 30, 2020 sailing.
The cruise line said the reason for the cancelations was due to the ongoing uncertainty of travel restrictions and port closures in Asia due to coronavirus. This has impacted most cruises out of China and Southeast Asia.
Guests who were booked on the canceled sailings will receive an email from Princess Cruises or hear from their travel agent regarding compensation.
These cancelations are in addition to a previous 20 cruises that Princess canceled late last week. The cruise line has now had to cancel over 40 sailings on three cruise ships that were based in Asia.
All guests booked on these cruises will receive a full refund, back to the original form of payment, of their cruise fare, Princess Air, pre- and post-cruise hotel packages, prepaid shore excursions and other prepaid items, and taxes, fees, and port expenses.
