Last week, the CDC switched their No Sail Order to a Conditional Sail Order giving cruise lines a pathway to resuming cruises out of U.S. ports.
While the No Sail Order has been lifted, it will still be a few months before cruises can begin sailing. Because cruise lines aren’t sure yet when they will be able to resume, Carnival Cruise Line issued a statement asking their guests, travel agents, and destination partners for patience.
The statement issued by Carnival Cruise Line can be read below:
“Carnival Cruise Line will continue to work with the CDC on an eventual return to guest cruise operations. We are evaluating the CDC’s new order that sets out the conditions under which cruising can resume, but there are a significant number of requirements that must be evaluated in the context of our plans to resume operations.
We ask our guests, travel advisors and community and destination partners for their patience as we complete our review. We are committed to communicating more details as soon as possible.”
Carnival Cruise Line currently has all cruises canceled through the end of the year. Once they are able to resume, they will likely start with just a handful of cruise ships. Different ships will start at different dates with vessels not starting back up until late spring.
Right now it is pretty much just a waiting game as cruise lines work with the CDC to gain approval to sail.
